John-Paul ZeniOn April 6, 2024, I had the pleasure of attending the Brain Injury Society of Toronto (BIST) Art Show at the Clark Centre for the Arts in Scarborough. Advocai LLP was delighted to be able to sponsor the event and I want to congratulate the BIST membership, staff (Meri and Laura!!) as well as the committee for putting on such a great event. This amazing event is put on by BIST every year to showcase the artwork that is produced by the brain injury community in Ontario. I’m consistently awed by the beautiful and inspiring art that is created by the BIST membership.

For the last several years I have had the honour of sitting on BIST’s Brain Injury Awareness Month Committee which plans and organizes this event along with several others that are typically run during brain injury month (June).

Art

The Art Show was a little earlier than normal in 2024 because BIST staff was able to book the Clark Centre for the Arts in Scarborough. The Clark Centre is wonderfully designed and was the perfect venue for the art. In particular, it made an amazing backdrop for the incredible origami crane structure of 1500 handmade cranes that was created by BIST members.

The art is still on display so I want to encourage everyone to go see the art – either by visiting the Clark Centre up until April 29th, 2024, or, by viewing it virtually on the BIST website.
